Reflections:

It was very enriching and yet exciting as I had the chance to conduct experiments with my partner which I seldom have the opportunity to do so in primary school. I really like conducting experiments in the lab as it allows me to have a better understanding towards the subjects taught in class as I get to experience it first hand instead of listening to my teacher explaining theories and powerpoints. Conducting experiments brings so much joy to science lessons, making it very lively. Through the process of conducting experiments, we are able to gain more knowledge of the subjects and why certain things will cause certain reactions and what the final outcome of the experiment would be. We also conduct experiments to prove if hypothesis are correct or incorrect.

Since I am in secondary 1, we will only be able to conduct relatively easy experiments, such as separating mixtures, and heating substances. We can only conduct more complex experiments which may lead to explosions as seen in cartoons where an explosion occurs when chemicals are mixed wrongly. Those kind of experiments are far more interesting and captivating as compared to those in which we are conducting.

Lab lessons are without a doubt much more interesting than theory lessons. Separation of mixtures and other experiments are very easy to do as all that is required is basically just heating substances and waiting for the the final results, sometimes taking measurements at intervals. Through conducting experiments, we would be able to fully absorb and understand the theories that we have been taught before experimenting and this would be a gigantic aid during our tests too.
