Elements have properties similar those of their atoms.
A compound has properties which are different from the properties of its constituent elements.
A mixture has the properties of the substances which it is made up of.
Elements cannot be broken down.
A compound can be broken down,
by chemical methods, for example. Heating (decomposition) or passing electricity through it.
A mixture can be separated easily by physical methods, for example, filtration, distillation and evaporation.
This is what I learn about elements mixtures and compounds.
Solution and suspension
The definition of solution is, a homogeneous (when there is the same characteristics throughout the solution) mixture in which one or more substances are dissolved in another substance. There are five types of solution, as followed -
Solid-liquid solution: sugar solution, salt solution
Compounds
Mixtures
Made up of only one kind of atom.
Different elements in a compound
combine in a fixed proportion by mass.
The components in a mixture
are not mixed in any fixed
proportion
An element is the simplest
pure substances.
A chemical change takes place
when a compound is formed.
No chemical reaction occurs.
There is little or no
heat/light energy taken in or
given out.

Gas-liquid solution: hydrochloric acid, soft drinks
Solid-solid solution: brass, bronze
Liquid-liquid solution: vinegar, beer, wine
Gas-gas solution: air, natural gas (gas around us)
